Charles Francois Gounod bust (1818-1893). In the middle of the nineteenth century, when the French lyric stage was dominated by foreign music, Parisian composer Charles-Francois Gounod brought a characteristically Gallic gift for melody into opera. Though he undertook the medium reluctantly and enjoyed few real successes outside Faust, written midway through his life, this work remains the high-water mark of French romanticism. This bust figurines are composed of alabaster dust mixed with a durable binding compound, each detail is finished with care by the artisans of Italy's Egregia Workshop. Mounted on a solid alabaster base.
